FAQ's

What is a 3-week block?

A 3-week block is three weeks of classes in the course you are working on. Dates for the courses are detailed on our class calendar. L.O.V.E. classes meet every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening. During the week your course (Freedom, Awareness, Movement or Horseman) meets. If you have a PLATINUM Membership you send one video of tasks you are working on in your particular course level. You may send one video each week a total of 3 videos. Your monthly tuition entitles you to watch up to 9 classes (in any course)and send in 1 video for each week. If you have a GOLD Membership you have access to watch all 9 classes in each block.

What's the difference between an Endorsement and an Evaluation?

When a Reis Ranch instructor watches your video, they evaluate the task you are demonstrating. They will tell you where your strengths lie and where you need improvement. Then they will offer suggestions to improve your skills on the task you demonstrate in your video. Reis Ranch instructors are here to help you move your horsemanship to the next level. If you are having trouble with a particular task, we will help you pass and move to the next course.

If you ask, the instructor will grade the proficiency of the task in your video on a scale from 1 to 10. This is your endorsement.

What are awards?

If you pass all the tasks in all the classes in the Freedom Course, you will earn a Universal Horsemanship pin with a red ruby

If you pass all the tasks in all the classes in the Awareness Course, you will earn a Universal Horsemanship Concho with a green emerald

If you pass all the tasks in all the classes in the Movement Course, you will earn a Universal Horsemanship Concho with a blue sapphire

If you pass all the tasks in only one class in the Horseman Course, you will earn a Universal Horsemanship belt buckle with one diamond. You can earn up to four belt buckles with diamonds in this course.

What's the difference between a Course and a Class?

The Mentor Series Home Study Course has four consecutively more challenging courses: Freedom, Awareness, Movement, and Horseman. These can be purchased as a unit at a discount or individually. Each course is divided into four class sections. The four class sections are Round Pen, Ground School, Mounted, and Mounted Refined.

How many tasks does each course have?

It depends on the course you are working on. Each of the four courses -- Freedom, Awareness, Movement, and Horseman -- is divided into four class sections. The four class sections are Round Pen, Ground School, Mounted, and Mounted Refined. Each class section has various tasks associated with it, depending on the level.

What is a task? How do I find out what tasks my horse and I need to learn?

A task is a specific movement or skill you and your horse practice and perform together. The tasks in the courses are carefully designed to improve your horse's education and your skill level safely and logically. The tasks are included in the Mentor Series Home Study Course. Once you are enrolled in the L.O.V.E. program, you will be given access to the on-line classroom which will also list the tasks in the course you are working on.

How much time will each task take?

That depends on you, your horse, and your schedule. Take as much time as you need to perfect the task you are working on. Once you are enrolled in the L.O.V.E. program, you will have access to your online classroom. There will be guidelines in your classroom for the time allowed to complete your task in your video. (Of course, editing is not allowed.). Usually you will submit 2 - 4 tasks per video. Each video is not be longer than 7 minutes.
